This pre sea training is for those candidates who want to pursue career in Deck Category in Merchant Shipping and want to become Deck Officer or Navigation Officer
You need 10th pass/above or any equivalent from recognized board.
Medically and Physically Fit.
Eye vision (+) or (-) 2.5 allowed
No visual aids or color blindness
Age: 17.5 - 28 years
Introduction to shipping industry, Familiarization with deck department of the ship, Deck safety, Navigation, Metrology, Watch keeping duties, Search & Rescue operations, Flag Signals & codes, Life saving appliances, Survival at Sea, Swimming, Personality development, English & Computer etc.
After successful completion of the training, the course certificate will be issued by the academy approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of surface and Transport govt. of India.
In addition to that candidate will be awarded with -
Indian CDC (Continuous Discharge Certificate)
INDOS NO (Indian National Database for Seafarers)
5 STCW Certificate (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers)
Medical Certificate
The candidate after completion of pre-sea training course has to sail for a minimum period of 18 months or more to apply for Officer COC assessments / exams.
Further sea experience & passing exam, Chief Officer
